Boys more likely than girls to outgrow asthma (Reuters)

Reuters - Boys may purchase caffeine extract more likely than girls to have co-q10 asthma, but they are also more likely to grow out of it during adolescence, a new study shows.

Omega 3 acids are vital for the human body as they have many beneficial properties on the human body. These fatty acids cannot be produced naturally by the human body and it is important to add them through diet or supplements.

Among the natural sources for omega 3 fats, fatty fish and a series of vegetables (flaxseed, walnuts) are the richest. Many medical conditions are known to be treated or ameliorated by increasing the amount of omega 3 fatty acids: a series of cancers, inflammatory diseases and mental conditions. A study conducted by the Duke University Medical Center in collaboration with the National Institute of Health and the University of Michigan and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, has found out that flaxseed has a beneficial effect in healing prostate tumor growth.

Because flaxseed is known to have very high concentrations of omega 3 fatty acids, scientists tried to find out if there is a direct connection between these essential fats and the stopping in tumor development.

They have dmae bitartrate that omega 3 rich seeds, such as flaxseed or sesame, are able to interrupt the chain of events that leads cells to divide irregularly and become cancerous. Previous studies have only allegedly connected the flaxseed consumption and a low-fat diet to slowing down of tumor growth, but this latest research proved that it is flaxseed that primarily offers the protective benefit. The study was conducted on men who had been suffering from prostate problems and had to undergo prostatectomy (a surgery operation to remove prostate cancer).

Prior to surgery, for 30 days, the test subjects took 30g of flaxseed daily. After the operations, scientists examined the tumors and were able to determine how quickly the cancer cells had multiplied.

Men taking flaxseed, either alone or in conjunction with a low-fat diet, were compared to men assigned to just a low-fat diet, as well as to men in a control group, who did not alter or supplement their daily diet. Men in both of the flaxseed groups had the slowest rate of tumor growth.

Flaxseed intake, either alone, or in combination with a low-fat diet, helped reduce the growth and development of cancerous cells within the tumors. The main reason scientists believe is that flaxseed are a great source of omega-3 fatty acids and flaxseed can alter how cancer cells lump together or cling to other body cells, both factors in how fast cancer cells proliferate. This discovery is very important as specialists can develop new powerful drugs in treating and preventing cancerous tumors development.
